“When you pull on that jersey, you represent yourself AND your teammates. And the name on the front is a helluva lot more important than the one on the back!”
I played sports all my life. All kinds of sports; whatever was in season. I even wrestled for a few years…bad idea for a lanky middle schooler. After high school I even tried to play football…emphasis on TRIED. But, that is an entirely different blog. I played because I loved sports, and I was pretty good at them, but mostly because I really loved being a part of a team.
My wife Molly and I now have the pleasure of watching our own children participate in team sports. It’s a great experience for our family and, we hope, our kids are learning skills and lessons that will carry over to adulthood. Our daughter, Emma, is part of the Maryville High School Girls Varsity Soccer team that will compete for the State Championship this week…the first time in school history. #gorebels
Part of the reason I joined LeConte Realty was because of the emphasis on TEAM. Now, like ‘love’, or ‘awesome’, or ‘literally’, the word TEAM has been misused and abused, especially in the corporate realm. So, naturally, when TEAM was the emphasis during my conversations before joining the good folks at LeConte Realty, I was skeptical. But, I quickly realized, like anyone else associated with LeConte Realty whether it be agents, buyers, sellers, industry professionals or good friends, TEAM is more than just lip service at LeConte Realty.
At LeConte Realty, TEAM means:
Trust and Commitment
Just like individuals on a football team must commit to being the best he can be and trust his teammates are doing the same, we take that pretty seriously at LeConte Realty. No man or woman in the company is alone on an island. There is a commitment by each agent to become the very best we can be, and trust that everyone is doing the same. Further, each agent and the company leadership has mutual trust for one another and commitment to each other. It matters to me that LeConte is committed to my success as an individual, and it matters to everyone else that I am committed to the TEAM’s success.
Defined, Overlapping Roles
In soccer, defenders, midfielders, and forwards each have very defined roles…a defined purpose. However, the TEAM moves and flows and overlaps, with each member able to fill in for another as opportunities or difficulties arise. At LeConte Realty, if an agent has strong home valuation skills, they use that skill to make the TEAM the best it can be, they don’t keep that to themselves. And while it may be their primary role on the TEAM, they will also be called on to file paperwork, or show houses, or attend a closing for another team member. It also means that if someone has an area of weakness, the TEAM is still strong…we don’t have to be the best at everything a real estate professional should provide a client. We have the TEAM’s support, and they have ours. Marketing for instance…we can rely on more experienced TEAM members to support and perfect a marketing plan and timeline for a client’s home.
It’s not about ME, it’s about WE
The 1980 U.S. National Hockey Team was one of the greatest examples of TEAM I have ever seen. It was a collection of individuals whose whole was far greater than the sum of its parts. LeConte Realty has enjoyed great success since its beginnings because the emphasis has been about WE, not ME, which allows us to serve our clients in the best way possible. I tell my kids all the time, “The greatest compliment you can receive as an athlete is that you have made your teammates better.” At LeConte Realty, team doesn’t mean we are all working to make one agent a superstar, or that we simply share an office, but everyone is looking out for #1. It means we each work diligently with and for one another, making each other better along the way, so that each individual can find their own level of success, but the TEAM is celebrated when we have another completely satisfied client.
Do you have another great TEAM quality? How has the LeConte Realty TEAM served you? We would love to hear your story. And, of course, if you need help buying or selling a home, land, or commercial property, the LeConte Realty TEAM is here for you. In the meantime, cheer for our Lady Rebels.
